Babji Foods Industries: Replacing Manual Floor Tracking with Skelbiz

How a growing food manufacturer moved from paper-based shop-floor tracking to real-time visibility with Skelbiz Automation, Edge IoT Sync, and ERP Core.

Real-Time

Floor Visibility

The Challenge

Babji Foods Industries ran shop-floor tracking on paper logs and spreadsheets, making it slow to spot bottlenecks, reconcile stock, and keep financial records in sync with the factory floor.

The Solution

We deployed Skelbiz Shop-Floor Automation for workflow orchestration, Edge IoT Sync for on-site sensor and machine data capture, and ERP Core to keep sales orders and invoicing consistent with Tally ERP.

The Results

  • Real-time floor visibility replaced end-of-day paper reconciliation
  • Sales orders sync automatically into Tally, cutting manual re-entry
  • Faster response to production bottlenecks and stock discrepancies
  • A single source of truth spanning floor operations and accounts

How the Engagement Unfolded

We started with a two-week floor assessment before writing any code - mapping every point where paper handoffs were creating delay, from raw material intake through to finished-goods dispatch. That assessment shaped a phased rollout: Edge IoT Sync went in first to establish reliable sensor data capture, followed by Shop-Floor Automation to turn that data into live workflow visibility, with ERP Core integrated last once the operational data model was stable.

The phased approach meant production never stopped for the migration. Line supervisors kept using paper as a fallback during the first two weeks of parallel running, and once confidence in the digital system was established, that fallback was retired. The Tally sync in particular eliminated a recurring end-of-month reconciliation exercise that had previously consumed several staff-days per cycle.

What generalizes from this engagement is less about Babji Foods Industries specifically and more about sequencing: get reliable data capture in place before automating decisions on top of it, and migrate incrementally so the people doing the work never lose the ability to fall back to what they already trust while confidence in the new system builds. That pattern holds across most of the Food Manufacturing engagements we take on, not just this one, and it's usually the difference between a rollout that sticks and one that quietly reverts to the old spreadsheet within a month.

“The floor visibility we get now is something we simply didn't have before - we used to find out about a bottleneck a day late. Now it's immediate.”

Questions

Questions About This Engagement

Is this engagement pattern repeatable for other organizations?

Yes - the modules and sequencing described here reflect a pattern we apply across similar food manufacturing engagements, adjusted case by case for each client's specific constraints, existing systems, and team readiness.

How long did the full engagement take?

Timelines vary by scope and by how much legacy process needs to be untangled first; phased rollouts like this one are typically sequenced over several weeks to a few months rather than delivered as a single risky cutover.

Can we start with just one part of this?

Yes, every module referenced here can be scoped and delivered as a standalone engagement if a full rollout isn't the right first step for where your organization is today.
